Parenting and Friendships

Sometimes I think it’s much easier to be friends with people who are, themselves, parents, because then they understand the complications of finding a babysitter, transporting your child places, how often your child needs to eat (depending on age), when your child needs to be asleep, how much constant attention your child needs, etc.  Then there’s how expensive everything becomes.  Gas is suddenly more precious a commodity because diapers are $25 a pack, food is expensive, I just had to shell out $150 for a car seat, he needs clothes, medicine, there are doctor appointments to keep and my own bills to pay.  Though, I do have quite a lot of friends who aren’t parents and are very understanding and accommodating to all of these life changes, so maybe I just say it’s easier to have friends who are parents because that’s a way to assuage my guilt about feeling like a bad friend.

I guess he’s done eating for the night.

Sitting in my car on my lunch break, listening to Nirvana’s In Utero.  There’s a storm looming in the distance.

I love this little boy more than I could ever explain.
